Spring rain and autumn leaves

It had been raining intermittently, alternating between a drizzle and downpour, and I was fretting. A few more hours to go before I catch the rail from Taichung to Taipei and here I was, at the last site I wanted to cover of Central Taiwan, struggling to beat time, weather and to protect my camera. Sadly and inconveniently, it had been like this for almost every day I was in Nantou, with few hours of sunshine. Flowers are often associated with spring, so is rain.

It was April back then. Alas, how time passes. (Oops, my last post has been some time ago.) It should be late autumn in Taiwan now? But no, I've not gone back to shoot this since my previous trip. It was on that rainy spring afternoon that I encountered these red leaves. A very pleasant surprise! I've imagined my first encounter with autumn leaves to be in a Buddhist temple in Kyoto, on a dry November day. But nature has presented itself in a most unexpected way.

Once again, I feel for the lost time. Its almost the end of the year and seems like I've not achieved much!

Snow white blossoms

From afar, it looked like snow has gathered on trees.

But the leaves are green, and its spring time. Every year between April to May, tung blossoms bloom in various hilly areas of Taiwan.

And many will climb the seemingly unending steps, just to catch glimpses of these little white flowers.

Along the path by the Tung trees, freshly fallen blossoms are every where, on the ground, in the water...

Selected prints will be available for sale soon.

From Calendar to Wall Art

This is one of my favourite calendars, bought many years ago at Bangkok.

For a very long time, I didn't know what to do with the calendar after the year is over.

Until recently, I came up with the idea to put the photos together as a collage.
